Homemade Turkey Burgers

20 FEB
Want a burger that won't wreck or waist line? Or just fancy some tasty grub?Whatever, you need to try these.- Just a heads up before I post the rest of this. My laptop's down, and I'm using a different one for this. For some reason it's not letting me post any pictures on here, so apologies for that. I hate endless reams of words as much as the next guy, but hopefully it's only temporary. I fancied burgers for lunch today, and decided to experiment in the kitchen. The experiment was a success, and I knocked up some great turkey burgers in double quick time. Total prep time is less than 5 minutes (plus however long you want to leave them in the fridge for), and cook time 10-15 minutes. Here's the ingredients, and what to do -- 200g lean turkey thigh mince- 1 slice bread, crumbed. (I used gluten free bread, but go for whatever you want).- 1 medium egg.- Seasoning and Spices - This is where you get creative. I went for salt, ...

1. “What’s Your Why?” by Molly Galbraith In need of any more motivation after my “Mid-week Motivation” blog post on Tuesday? http://www.mikesamuelspersonaltraining.co.uk/article.php?id=153 Then this post is for you. http://mollygalbraith.com/blog/whats-your-why/ Molly goes into the reasons why we put ourselves through the pain of working out and eating well, because, let’s face it, even the most dedicated of us can sometimes find it painful. Those sets of 20 rep squats, your early mor...

Midweek Motivation

14 FEB
I came across this great picture last night on facebook, and think it's prefect for some midweek motivation.     It's pretty self-explanatory really, but it's something that we all face day to day. Here's the classic scenario. - Your goal is to lose weight, and you're at a friend's house, when they offer you a plate of biscuits. What do you do? If losing weight is important to you, you'll find a way to politely refuse. We all hate offending people, but why should turning down free food offend someone? If you were a vegetarian and someone offered you a sausage roll, you wouldn't think twice about declining. So why when you're on a diet do you feel bad about rejecting someone's offer of food. Don't feel bad, just explain to said friend why you can't eat any biscuits, and if ...

Another fun-packed Friday blog is here.   1. Bret Contreras' Sexy Challenge http://bretcontreras.com/2012/01/the-sexy-challenge/ I follow quite a few blogs of well-known S&C coaches, and came across this the other week on bret Contreras' website. usually, I'd see something like this, think that it looked fun, but leave it for others to try. This time though, it was different. Firstly, I didn't think it looked fun - it looked positively vomit-inducing, and secondly, I actually attempted. The challenge was to do as many chin ups as possible, then throw your bodyweight on a bar (in my ca...

Five for Friday

3 FEB
Good morning, and welcome along to another Five for Friday. Here's this week's top 5.   1. My Article on Elite FTS I'm starting this with a massive plug, and a big pat on the back and round of applause for myself.   Last week, I had my first article published on Elite FTS. For those of you who aren't aware of Elite FTS, it's one of the biggest and most well-respected sources of information on the Internet for all things strength training, bodybuilding and fitness related, and is owned by former elite powerlifter Dave Tate. Getting published there is something that I've wnated to achieve from the first time I read articles on the site a good three years ago, so I was chuffed to nuts to see my name and article on the home pa...

50 Exercises You Should Never Do     http://articles.elitefts.com/articles/training-articles/50-exercises-you-should-never-do/   When I saw the title of this article, I was a little put off. In my opinion, there are very few exercises that you can categorically say that no one should ever do. However, this list is composed of 50 exercises from 50 different people, which makes it much better, as the exercises put forward are based on a wide range of individuals, rather than just one person’s perspective.   If you see an article in the list that you currently do, don’t immediately drop it out ...

What's Your Motivation?

24 JAN
Just a quick blog today.  I first saw this video a couple of years back, and was amazed by it, but I hadn't watched it since. Then when training on Sunday, I was feeling like I couldn't be bothered with my post-weights cardio - my muscles were still aching from the session, I'd already got a sweat on, I was hungry, it was only cardio, and it was a Sunday morning, so i just felt like going back home and watching some tele. But then i remembered this video, and realised that I didn't have anything whatsoever to whine about.   ...

But then i remembered this video, and realised that I didn't have anything whatsoever to whine about.       If this guy can train, then what excuses have the rest of us got? Got a cold? Tired? Bad case of delayed onset muscle soreness? Stressed at work? All these pale in comparison to what Dustin ...
